Natel Energy stands in solidarity with the Black community in the fight for racial justice. Our mission is to mitigate climate change and build climate resilience through our work, and we recognize the interconnections between climate justice and racial justice. We also acknowledge the impacts that conventional hydropower has had historically on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. We are committed to healing our planet and our communities and to pursuing solutions to climate change grounded in social justice.
To this end, we have identified several internal and external actions we will take as follows:
- As our team continues to grow, we commit to improving diversity in our recruiting. We will post hiring opportunities on inclusive job boards and reach out to BIPOC campus organizations to broaden our outreach at the schools and universities where we recruit.
- We are making space as a team to expand our knowledge on ways to be antiracist and support team members’ efforts to process, protest, and volunteer to end systemic racism.
- We will host an internal retreat to brainstorm actionable next steps and develop impact goals and metrics to track the impact of our work in furthering diversity and environmental justice goals.
We welcome your thoughts, reflections, and ideas on how we can all move forward together. If you have questions, comments, or concerns please contact us at info@natelenergy.com
